The Catfish Poetry Publication Prize |
| CATFISH POETRY is based in Elaine, Arkansas, the brief childhood home of world famous novelist Richard Wright, who was made to flee in the darkness of the 1919 Elaine Race Riots when his uncle was killed by a white mob for owning a saloon. Proceeds from Catfish’s endeavors benefit The Civil Wright program of Delta Shakespeare Project, an initiative that aims to bring scholarship and recognition to Wright’s presence in Elaine and the effects of the 1919 Riot. Catfish Publishing was founded in 2004 as an alternative voice in poetry, specializing in the promotion of new poets. Catfish has enriched poetry publishing and aims to have the widest collection of new and established southern poets available in the U.S.
